Jimmy Raftery Shoes Shop in Ballina Mayo

Jimmy Raftery Shoes has been trading in Ballina since July 1967 when Castlerea native Jimmy Raftery first opened the doors, having worked and learned the retail trade in Castlerea and Castlebar. The business opened and traded on O’Rahilly Street in a unit beside Gerry Kenny Sports which is today occupied by homeware shop Mariposa. At the time Ballina was already well serviced by up to six or more long established locally owned shoe shops but it’s a true testament to Jimmy’s professionalism and business acumen that after 20 years of operating on O’Rahilly street Jimmy Raftery Shoes relocated to the former International Stores premises on Tone Street in February 1987.

Having commenced trade with a small selection of ladies and gents shoes Jimmy soon added children’s shoes to his selection and the new and larger shop on Tone Street enabled him to continue to grow and expand his stock, bringing the leading footwear brands to an ever growing customer base that extends well beyond the Ballina hinterland.

Jimmy sadly passed away in 2018 but his legacy continues through the next generation of the Raftery family and highly trained and experienced staff.

Customers from all over Ireland (and further afield) continue to flock to Jimmy Raftery Shoes and in 2020 Jimmy Raftery Shoes launched their online shop so you can now shop at Jimmy Raftery Shoes/jrshoes.ie at any time.
